The house we moved into 4 years ago has an antique vise in the garage. I would be interested in selling it, and have no idea if this vise is of any value. The vise has several dates stamped on it from 1867. I'm not sure of the size exactly, but when it is closed, it's about 10 inches long and about 7" high. The internet has so many antique tools, but I have not found any antique vises for sale, or anyone trying to auction one. Any help pointing me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.

Got to say - put it upon Ebay. You'll quickly find out what it's worth. You'll find LOTS of people out there that collect old vices - whoops vises - sorry! You can either put a reserve price on it (below which you wont sell). Or if your not happy just end the auction prematurely. The worst that'll happen is you'll be out a couple of bucks for the listing fee. If you don't believe the prower of ebay just log on a search for something really dumb - like dead people. Go ahead - try it.... Good luck!@

Bruce, to find antique vises, on eBay, go to: collectibles on main page, then go to hardware, knives, tools, etc. then it will ask you to break it down further in tools to blacksmith, mechanic, woodworking. Many old vises for sale there. You 'll probably find something similar to yours in the pictures listed. John
