I notice everyone whining about cheap pliers and tools and the fact that they aren't made in america anymore. I gotta tell you though, being one who tries to buy local and has for a long, long time, the real killer was when everybody whined about the expense and decided to go buy at wal-mart,Orschliens and the Big CHEAP stores and QUIT buying local because NATIONAL is only the extended family of localand you can't make 'em if you can't sell 'em. What did i read the other day that we are down to 15% of the manufacturing that we had when America was at the top of the heap. Its alright though because we are all going to get frustrated and then things will return to the ways of yesteryear.

The wages and health care overseas are killing manufacturing and some service jobs. The US workers cannot compete with wages of only pennies per hour.

I agree with IH. We will never be able to compete in a global economy because the playing field is not equal.

It did not really matter what we bought, the companies moved to where the cheap labor was to increase profit margins.
