OT EXPLORER WIPERS

The windshield wipers made a couple revolutions and then stayed open in the full wide position.
The fuse is OK. It is like the wipers are just locked up can't move them by hand.
The motor is a little warm but not hot.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Recall Date: NOV 07, 2005 Potential Number Of Units Affected: 199942 Description VISIBILITY:WINDSHIELD WIPER/WASHER:MOTOR Summary ON CERTAIN TRUCKS, PASSENGER CARS AND SPORT UTILITY VEHICLES, THE WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR MAY HAVE BEEN PRODUCED WITHOUT GREASE BEING APPLIED TO THE OUTPUT SHAFT GEAR. Consequence AFTER A PERIOD OF CONTINUOUS USE ON THE HIGH SPEED SETTING, LACK OF GREASE ON THE OUTPUT SHAFT GEAR MAY CAUSE THE GEAR TO DISTORT OR FRACTURE DURING OPERATION RESULTING IN A LOSS OF WIPER FUNCTION. INOPERATIVE WIPERS UNDER INCLEMENT WEATHER CONDITIONS COULD CAUSE A CRASH DUE TO IMPAIRED VISIBILITY. Thanks fellas for your thoughts.
It is a 98 bought new with 135 K now showing.
Went out after letting it set for an hour and it worked perfectly.
Looks like the motor is going.

unplug the harness to the wiper motor quick. ford has a problem with the wiper motors on some of the suv, they short out and burn the vehicle down. call the dealer to see if it has a warranty recall on it. i dont have the tsb handy on that, maybe somebody else out there does.
