old brooklyn forge drill press

I inherited a brooklyn forge drill press . it is green and about 4 feet tall with a leather drive belt. does anyone know anything about these presses? All i know is the guy who had it had it for a realy long time up until he died

These old wall mount? drill presses are still pretty useful, but this sounds like it needs an overhead line drive for the belt. If it has a crank opposite the flywheel, then can be used manually. Too many folks put electric motors on these, and they wore out fast, due to not having bushings, they ran steel on cast iron. If you look on the 'bay, they can be had from $20.00 and up. If the spindle, where you put in the drill bit, has lots of side play, the price will be low. If its tight, is still a usable tool.
