Went into the Orschlens Farm and Home at California, Mo this afternoon to pick up a new pair of pliers. Always used CeeTee brand. Seems I plant 3-4 pair a year. Well guess what? They looked a little different, sure nuff, Now made in China or Tiawan. I left the damned things lay.. Guess I will have to find someone who carries Klien. Or else order Klein off the internet. I"ll be damned if I will carry Chinese pliers.

hose clamps, disappointing in reply to GeneMo, 02-24-2007 18:25:05
Where can you buy real stainless worm gear hose clamps? Everything I find either rusts or will not tighten, strips out. I used to be a ble to tighten these babies enough to cut the hoses. No more. Tried 12 other day to get 4 to work. These are like for radiator hoses, heater hoses, trans line repairs, etc.

This place had some closeouts on USA made pliers but looks like there gone now? Might try them though as they still have many other quality tools that will soon be gone forever.

I usually carry a Schrade knife, the "Uncle Henry" model. Recently flew about 600 miles to pickup a vehicle and drive it back to my home territory and left all knives at home before going to the airport. As soon as I was on the ground, I bought another knife. Schrade is apparently out of business. I bought a Buck knife at KMart, surprisingly low price. After I left the store, I discovered that it was made in China. I have also discovered that it is excellent quality.

You can still buy your Uncle Buck Schrade knife, but it is made by another company, and of course, in China.

If you have to buy three or four pliers a year because they are getting lost, I think I'd buy the cheapest thing I could make do with, no matter where it was made.

Buy a pair of Kliens and you'll surely cry the first time they get gone$$$

I few weeks ago, Channellock sent me a catalog. I purchased a few sets of pliers from them and they are by far some of the nicest pliers for the money. I'd HIGHLY recommend you look into Channellock.

Channel Lock 526 pliers if get new ones had the pattern changed couple years ago and not what they use to be either. Made lighter and thinner and hinge stinks. Drop them on concrete or hammer on something with them and they are ruined. Say made in USA on them but they are not the same as old ones and probably not really made here.

What we gonna do when nothin' in this country works? No tools, no quality and the work ethic is fading away. Move to china or mexico or just wait for them to take over. We sure can't build fences that work. Our security is insecure!

They don't want security, they want to merge the US and Mexico, it has already begun.

Well, it does seem that the quality has gone out of most american goods since just about every item is outsourced. My 1980 "American Made" Harley had spoked wheels from Italy, forks from Japan, some other Taiwan items. Do not blame the Mexicans, do not blame the Chinese etc. Blame the corporations that will go to any length to make a buck for their shareholders.
