Larry,
you need to flash the generator if it has been sitting for a while. To do that plug a drill into one of the 110V outlets and turn the drill backward by hand, but be carful, if it needed to be flashed, and it works, the drill will start running and the chuck can tear up your hand. If that does not do it, the next thing probaly will be a capcitor in the end of the gennie under the cover, about 3 inches long and an inch in diameter, that after flashing is what is wrong with 95% on the ones we get it for service. What model is it, you can go to sears website and get a parts breakdown on it.

Try this.

Plug in a corded drill. Fire up the genny. Pull the trigger of the drill and give the chuck a spin. This induces a current in the drill (motor turned backwards is a generator) and back feeds into the generator.

This is usually enough to re-excite the coils in the generator and it should start producing power again.

It is a pretty common problem, especially if the generator sits for a while.

You may have to reverse direction on drill if necessary.

Might contact Sears for Operator Manual.
