OT- Pick-up truck gas tank- filling problems

I have a problem with my 2004 GMC Canyon. When I fill the gas tank I can only get about $1.00 in it before the pump shuts off. Then I have to wait 5-10 seconds and squeeze the pump handle again. The pump then shuts off after pumping only about 10 to 25 cents worth of gas. This goes on until the tank is full. The filler neck seems clear- is there a vent that is blocked? Any ideas out there? It takes about 15 minutes to fill the tank, and with our winter weather it seems like hours! This problem happens at different gas stations so I don't think it's the pumps.

ST. PAUL, Minn. - A couple face drug charges after police say they found more than 150 pounds of pot in the gas tank of their pickup.

According to federal investigators, the couple pulled into a Midas Shop complaining about fuel problems. A mechanic noticed some suspicious weld marks on the gas tank and called the cops.

Police say the tank had a secret compartment and marijuana probably had gotten mixed in with the gas. Investigators are praising the mechanic for his "sharp thinking."

BTDT ford truck. Found gas station with slow pump and continued to buy gas there for the life of the truck. Was a new tank.

This is a problem with the flatbed at work. The filler neck goes very nearly horizontal before turning down into the tank. Parking on the side of the pump that puts the filler neck highest in relation the the tank helps, but still doesn't totally solve the problem.

you got plug in the air vent hose. or a gas hose is in bent position that it cut off air release are get a other problem beside that some type of error on the dash board.do you let go of pump handle went you pumping your gas, are you might have it in to far to the bent of filler tube... that what I found out my 2003 gmc somona pickup..

I've got the same problem on a 2004 fullsize Chevrolet 1500.
I've checked the filler hose,they are o.k.
Been told and read on a forum,it is most likely the VENT Valve on top of tank.Also it will do this if you attempt to fill with ing. switch on.
I see some diffrence at diffrent stations,I THINK that some nozzles are smaller.
You can find a Chevy truck forum,and find this discussed. Haven't checked on the price of thiss VENT VLAVE part.Wonder if it might be a recall???

not sure what canyon is,is that same as chevy blazer,if it is yes you are probably not getting air. they have a foam filter that ride right above where the spare tire is carried. It is real pain as this vehicle use for mail route. Have to clean it out at least monthly Such a joke

Had the same problem with a couple different vehicles, different manufacturers:

I have found that If I shove nozzle in as far as it will go, that's when I have trouble. Try withdrawing the nozzle an inch or an inch and a half, see what happens. Or change the angle of insertion. Has worked on several of the problem vehicles.
