I know that this subject has been beaten to death, but I sure would like some opinions on compressor selection. The following three are what I am currently considering. What are the pro's & con's?

Eaton Compressor:
Motor Specs: 5HP, 24.5 running amps, 1750 RPM
Pump Specs: 800 RPM, 21.5 CFM Displacement, 17 CFM Free Air at 175 PSI, 2 Stage
Tank: 80 Gallons

Champion Centurion Series
Motor Specs: 5HP, 22 Amps
Pump Specs: 805 RPM, 23.5CFM Displacement, 16.5 CFM at 175 PSI, 2 Stage
Tank: 60 Gallons, 80 Gallons $100 more

Quincy
Motor Specs: 5HP, 22 Amps
Pump Specs: 19.9 CFM Displacement, 16.3 CFM at 175 PSI, 2 Stage
Tank: 60 Gallons, 80 Gallons $100 more

If the prices are comparable (do you have to buy a starter and wire it in for the Champion and Quincy?), I'd forget about the Eaton.

If the Quincy is a QT unit, I'd take the Champion.

If the Quincy is a QR, pressure lubed pump, and the prices are in the ballpark, the Quincy is the one to go with.

Compare the units, feature for feature, and the warranty (I think the Champion's is pro-rated). Probably not much to choose between the Champion or the Quincy. Both are quality machines and reputable manufacturers.

If the Eaton is quite a bit cheaper, and it won't be used for heavy-duty commercial work (air sanders, grinders, or other tools which will see it running a long time), it would be a decent unit for a small operation, but it won't last like the other two.

If you just want to buy the thing and forget about it, you can't go wrong with a Quincy, ever.

I believe these units are all splash lubricated. Home shop - heavy use at times, but mostly evenings and weekwndss. Will be used for some sandblasting and other air tools, but again, sporadic. Certainly not 5 days per week all day. Quincy is a QT-5 unit. Champion is a "Cenurion" model.

Quincy without a doubt.
