I had the same problem and a new spark plug was
the answer.

Check for:

Fresh, clean gas, proper fuel mix.

Gas tank cap vent working properly.

Good spark, clean plug.

Exhaust restrictions. On a two stroke (which most trimmers are) there's a spark arrester screen in the muffler that gets plugged up with carbon and exhaust residue, and that's also a favorite place for mud daubers to winter over.

Carburator properly adjusted.

check in the tank to make sure the fuel line and filter aren't clogged.also check the primer bulb on the carb to see if it's cracked.good luck
