Does anybody know what type of hard facing rod can be used on large construction equipment, such as rippers, blades, buckets, back-hoes....etc, on such names as CASE, John Deere, Cat and others? I've been told XX18 rods, but I'm not convinced thoroughly, as I would like to know so that I can use a hardfacing specific rod. What would also be a good repair rod or self-shielding wire to use for repairs on the same type of equipment? Most of my welding is custom fabrications, and I'm running across this type of stuff more often, and would like to know what I am dealing with.

Thanks.

Brad

Brad, Contact Steve at US alloys. His email should be found on one of his replies on this board. He knows all about this stuff.
