gravity fuel tank

i bought a 300 gallon gravity tank that hasnt had fuel in it in a couple years. the top has been keep on and no fuel was left in it. i washed it out wiht gas and diesel today and it turned a real dark color..after doing that several times it cleared up but there is still some small pieces of trash coming out. I am going to set it up and put a filter on it. Anything else i can do to clean it up

Along with the filter, I would put in a sand pipe.

Thats what I would do....you might want to put a ball valve on the tank first.....some times you cant unscrew the old filter with out fuel spilling ....or find out first....you might want to pick up an extra filter....
