Anybody out there have an E-W trailer? There is a guy that sells them on ebay. I want a tandem dual gooseneck 20-30 feet long. I'm from Ohio and a local guy sells Neal trailers. I know those are good. A friend has one and he loads the crap out of it, its been holding up good. The E-W trailers look just as good from the pictures and are quite a bit cheaper, but he's in Oklahoma and 950 miles is a long way to drive to be disappointed. Anybody have any experience with this gentleman or these trailers? Thanks in advance.

I don't know if they're still around, but I bought a B & B trailer made in Holy Cross, Iowa (Behnke Brothers). It was in the 1990's though, but at the time they saved me 1,000 to 1,500 and they would make anything you wanted. I live in Mich. and they made it worth my drive to get it.

Wow, I thought I had this trailer thing figured out, guess not. I first priced a Moritz. They are a good trailer, made locally. Way to expensive. 25+5 tandem dual, 2 jacks, 2 ramps-10,600. So then I priced a Neal. I think its better than a Moritz. 24+4 tandem dual, 2 jacks, 3 ramps-8400. Then I saw E-W's on ebay. Looks a lot like the Neals. 27+5 tandem duals, 2 jacks, 3 ramps-7250. I gotta go 950 miles to pick it up, but I should be able to do that for 500 bucks. Now T-Bone says get a Legend. Looks like a good trailer too. I check their website. He's right. 27+5 tandem duals, 2 jacks-6600 and HE'LL deliver for 500 bucks. This is what I know I want, in order of importance

Tandem duals
Knee bracing from frame to outside of deck
12" 19# I beam
2 jacks
2 coats of paint
3 ramps
Dexter axles

I don't know if I want:

Self cleaning dovetail (want to haul forklift with small tires)
25+5 (I have a 2500HD Chevy truck w/6.0 gas)
Fixed dovetail (raise-able dovetail would be nice for stuff like seed, lumber)

I don't know if i need:

22# I beam
Side lights
6" torque tube (whatever that is)
16" OC crossmembers (the Neal has 24")

22# I beam-some folks think "if some is good, then more is better, so way too much is about right." In reality the standard specs will handle more than the suspension will IF the load is spread out some. As your truck (any truck) has limits, just remember that a heavier trailer limits available load capacity and uses more fuel to haul around. The same goes for 16" spacing. These options are available for those who will or may carry "concentrated weight" loads. Most general users won't need them. The 6" torque tube is an option that helps the trailer frame cope with one sided or off balance loads. These options are popular with commercial haulers who often don't know what they'll be loading up next week, or how far they'll have to haul it.

Most every trailer comes with the Federal DOT required MINIMUM lighting. If I wanted more than that I'd add it myself, but you can get what you want when its made.

A raiseable dovetail, done right, can be pricey. Look at top hinged wedge shaped ramps and adding a third removeable ramp is usually fairly cheap. If you're gonna haul a forklift you don't want a self cleaning dovetail, but you do want a 5' dovetail cause forklifts have very little ground clearance.

No matter how ya do it in 3 months you'll be saying," I wish I had got ..... ..... .or left off..... ..... ."

Hi Bob,

I bought a 2005 Legend 27+5 tandum duals, Dexter oil bath 10K forward self adjusting
Cooper tires 235R16E
19# 12" I-Beams that extend to the end of ramps
3"C cross beam on 16" centers 6"C rails
2-3/8" x 3/8" rub rail
4" stake pockets
6" torque tube
10"C GN frame, extra bed clearence
rubber mounted lites with side turn signals
wood Deck
Bulldog dual jacks
Bulldog GN coupler
$6400 out the door.

I think there upto $6600 now with $500 delivery US wide, You would need to check with Jack on this. I have no interest in the company.

Very excellant quality both in craftmanship and welding. What I noticrd was there no road rocking while empty or loaded. No gripes yet other than the deck wood sucks but any wood deck has problems with the AZ sun.

I own one. 25+5 tandem 10K's. I could not be happier with it. In my area, they have dealers selling them for twice what you can get it for if you pick it up. Way heavier built than BigTex.

I exchanged a few e-mails with the manufacturer of E-W trailers, and I won't say that they are not a good trailer, but I didn't like the answers I got about the way it is designed. I don't think there would ever be any dependability issues because of it, but I know there are better designs out there.

I have looked at ELITE trailers, out of Spiro, OK. I was favorably impressed with both the design and the workmanship, enough so that I would feel comfortable about being a dealer for them.

How does the weight of the two trailers compare? I don't mean rated hauling capacity, but trailer weight? If they're close to the same, that's a good sign.

Glenn
