This may be a stupid question but,, I have a Fowler digital caliper by Sylvac, model is; Ultra Cal II,I have no info on this thing and my problem is, I dont know how to turn the darn thing off!. After 3 batteries Ive decided to swallow my pride and ask someone. Its powered by battery and remains active no matter what buttons I push. Any ideas or help would be appreciated Thanks

TS,

You might find some info at Fowler's site.

Hi TS,

I have a Max-Cal & manual. I can photocopy parts of it. Let me know how to reach you.
The battery has been in mine for at least three years and it's still working.

Roger

Some calipers just go into a "Sleep" mode, just blanking out the display, until there is some movement..

I had a set of Fowler digital calipers..They started to read really strange , even after multiple battery changes....Got out my old set of General dial calipers...Threw the others in the trash...Old school ain't so bad..

I have the same problem with mine. A new battery lasts about 1 year for me. How long do yours last?

Try pushing and holding one or more of the buttons for 5-10 seconds. You may have already tried this, but if not, this will often work.

I have 1 dig caliper that automatically turns on any time the jaws are moved slightly. This automatic turn on device is so sensitive that the slightest vibration, like closing the tool cabinet door, will turn it back on, which kills the battery over time. I have found that if I set the HOLD button before turning it off, that it will stay off. I close the caliper jaws, press the H (hold) button untill the "H" is indicated on the display, once this is done and it is turned off,it stays off untill the on/zero button is pushed.
