I bought a homemade 12 ft trailer several years ago. It has been made of mobile home axles it appears and has the traditional mobile home tires and wheels. Where can I find a couple of tires that are legal for this trailer?

We buy rims at Redneck trailer supply and at big trie dealers and tires anywhere they sell tires. Not saying Oldmax is wrong but we own two Dynaweld tag alongs that have been stopped at least twice for inspections in Ohio and both ride on 14.5 lowboy tires so being illegal is news to me.

Some states will not let you run Mobile home type tires 14 1/2 tubeless of any kind, some PUCO in the state of OH will RED TAG & have Hauled in any trailer with this type tire on it . I had to go get A friend of mines 10'single axle on my 16' utility trailer the other day they would not let him move it had to haul it out of state he lived in WV . & it had Low boy tires on it . they also gave my utility trailer a check before they would let me go . as per Brakes ,tires, Lights, & Break-a-way sys . Also wanted to know if I was charging him to haul his trailer home . The only thing they could have got me for is no insp sticker "trailer has perment plates" but is a 7000 lb GVW on Reg tag . but they didn't think of that . Some times some people just want to be Pr*ks about things like that. The Guy they picked on has two brothers that are WV Troupers & I am sure they will look out for a certin PUCO when he crosses the State line .

I just bought 4 & had them delivered by UPS. {The Original Tire Mart} of St. Louis MO sold them to me. Search for web site on internet. I used to have it but lost it. They have a toll free number.

Every mornin I go to McDonald's fer coffee an a bite. Lots of "law dawgs" there ever morning. Bout a week ago an Alabama State trooper ask the DOT guys (1 Alabama DOT 2 Georgia DOT) about the "moble home use only" tires on his own little trailer. Their opinion was "get a disc sander, buff off the moble home part, an call 'em 'blems'. Can't nobody prove otherwise. Now if you go tell somebody we said that we gonna deneye it."

I stock and sell them. Any good tire store can get them.

Any commercial tire place will have them, they are called Low Boy tires and are available all the way up to 12 plies.

I commend you for choosing to put the right tires on your trailer.

About any tire store can get DOT legal 14.5 trailer tires. I don't want to start an argument, but there ar some trailer manufacturers (Hudson for one) that make trailers with mobile home style wheels. But you need to have lowboy tires on them. I have been pulling one for over 20 years in several states and not had a problem with the police.
