Looking at Miller Bobcat 225 welder generator with a Kohler 23 horse gas engine. It has a 10,000 watt generator. Would that be big enough to run my 1 horse submersed pump? It set at 300ft deep. I want to have water when the lights go out got tired of smelling myself from the last ice storm here in MO. Nine days without power is awful. Thanks for your advice, Chris

I just measured one a few days ago. It pulled 5.2 amps at 240 volts. That's about 1250 watts. It's a 40 year old pump if it matters. But it still works.

Hi Chris,

I use a 12v RV 5gpm pump with a cistern to pressure pump to the house. This lets me have water without running the deepwell pump all the time.

For less than $500 you can set up a water sytem this way. 450gal Tank $250, Flotec Pump $122, 20/40 Sq"D" pressure switch $25, Deepcycle battery $60, 12v 2amp trickle charger $18.

Fill the cistern tank then pressure pump from there. At 5gpm, it's like having your regular water supply in both pressure and volume. 450gal will last two people 5 days without conserving. 1200gals every 15 days with 6 loads of landury.

Does your Bobcat have a 230 volt outlet ? Most liklie the pump is 230 volt. If so try it I would think there's enough power there.

That should be enough to do that and then some. I don't know how many amps your pump draws but I run my pump on 15 amp breakers and if I have my math right thats only a little over 1500 watts of course start up will spick over that but still you would have more then enough. I know if my 6.5K genny had 220 on it as it should I would have hooked it up to my well

Use my Miller Bobcat 225, with the Kohler 18HP V-Twin at 8000 watts to run my 300 foot well with 2 HP motor that pumps 22 gallon per mininute. Starts and runs the well just fine. Tom
