I have a older electric meat slicer. Insted of a modern capacitor it has a starter plate that has contacts that connect to two small capacitors. That starter plate has broken down and the moter wont move unless I give the blade a little help to get spinning. Its fine when up to speed. The motor was made by the slicer company and the part is no longer available. Is there some way to just retrofit a regular capacitor? Im no expert on electric motors but can take pics.
Thanks

The centrifugal starting switch can be replaced by a "potential relay", ot "Solid State Starting Switch.

A place that carries refrigeration parts, or a garage door repair company should be able to help you.

The little solid-state unit is the simplest, only requiring 2 connections, one to each side of the defective starting switch contacts.

If no luck, email me for more information... I've got to get a kid to school, and can't track the information down at tje moment.
