I'm not a regular on this board but I have a tool question I hope you will help me with. I have done a breif search of the archives and found good info on types and removal/replacement.
Could you name some good sources to purchase one as I have a broken jaw? Probably mail order or online. Our small town is hardware storeless. Thanks.

I'll second the Ebay suggestion. As for a brand, Jacob's. The cheaper imports are pretty likely to slip, even when tightened up. You can buy a new or like new Jacob's off Ebay for a lot less than catalog price. You can also buy rebuild kits for Jacob's chucks, so the next time you break a jaw, you can just rebuild the chuck.

Go Enco. When I got an old Logan lathe I got most of my tooling thru them. Great service and decent products from lower end to top quality.

Here is a good source for all sorts of good reasonably priced drill chucks and a lot more. Great people.

Try Enco tools or MSC industrial.
Enco will be cheaper than Mcmaster Carr and has better stuff than Harbour.

JC: Depending on how much you want to spend, two excellent sources are McMaster-Carr (www.mcmaster.com) and Enco (www.use-enco.com). Harbor Freight, Northern Tool and similar places also carry them, though your selection may be more limited.
