Hydraulic Cylinder!

I have a hydraulic cylinder with only one hose taken off a poison machine implement. Is it posible to have another fitting and hose added to a cylinder so that it would have working pressure both directions?

New hydraulic cylinders with warrenty are on sale from time to time at TSC etc. You can't polish a t*rd.

Yes, you can, if it is a two-way to start with. If there is currently a breather cap where the second hose would go, unscrew it and attach hose, Be careful when using first time, cover with heavy tarp, and stand back. Hydraulic fluid can inject itself under the skin and is a nasty injury you don't want.

Dave, just because a cylinder has a breather on it does not necessarily make it a double acting cylinder. The only way to properly tell is remove and disassemble cylinder to see if it has two high pressure seals and a wiper on the piston AND. High pressure seal and wiper on the output of ram.

It is like old says, in a two way cylinder the internal piston has two pressure seals,with a wiper in between. The easiest way to accomblish what you want to do is replace your existing cylinder with a double acting one.HTH

Most one way cylinders are just that and can't be made into 2 way. The reason is the seals etc aren't made to work that way and will not hold and will leak badly if you try
