I have an older dish network dish and receiver. Think the the dish supports two leads coming out of it. I put the service in standby for a year while doing a major house overhaul. When it came time to hook it back up, it was easier to have them come out and hook up a whole new system than re-rigging the old. Seems a shame to throw out the old, are they worth literally anything?

The dish itself and the LNB and the mounting bracket
and the switch, basically all the stuff outside,
isn't really worth anything. Check ebay for prices.

The reciever box that sits near the TV may be
worth something. I recently sold mine for $100
each. I had accidently ran over the dish with the
tractor and wanted to switch to cable anyway.
Not all boxes are worth anything. I had older
Dish Network boxes. I was told that Direct TV
boxes aren't really worth anything.
The encryption reportedly can't be cracked.

All I know is I had 3 boxes and someone offered
me $100 each for them. I asked them if the other
hardware was worth anything and they said no.
The switch would probably fetch the most on ebay.
But the dish and LNB hardware isn't really worth
anything.

You can get a free to Air MPG2 recievers that will bring in more non encripted "quality" programming" that you will have time to watch. www.skyvision.com and other shops have them.

If you read your agreement carefully, the receiver is probably the property of the satellite provider. That doesn't mean much except that they have the computers in them set up so you can't simply swap out receivers (new receiver won't recognize your old card), so it's a hassle to upgrade unless you buy a new receiver from DISH. The antenna, on the other hand, has no smarts in it at all, and can be readily swapped out with a broken or defective unit.

What would you take for it? I would like to have it as a back up. I have the Dish 500 system, I really have no idea what a used unit is worth.

Shoot Rusty if you pay the shipping you can have the one I have if I can still find it that is. I switched from dish network to direct TV a couple years ago because network didn't do as they had said they would

The Direct TV recievers were quite popular to "HACK" for free signals a while back. Their engineers and legal teams put a halt to that.

Now that activity has been handed off to the Dish Network system recievers, and their used recievers have become quite in demand.
