I had two old cordless phones go bad about six months ago. Don't remember what brands but they had worked at least ten years or more. Went to Radio shack a got two new ones they lasted about a month and died, Radio Shack refunded money and we purchased more expenive ones from them. They have now died after four months. Batteries and charger seem to over heat, have tried new batteries but they ownly lasted about 24 hours.

Help would be appreciated
Bill

The only ones that I have had very good luck with were the Panasonic brand. Even them need to have the batteries replaced from time to time. It's not much of a problem anymore, but at one time it seems that the Panasonic brand was the only one that would stand up to being used as a substitute for football practice in the house.

Uniden 4 pack for about $100 get you 4 phones and only 1 has to be plugged into a phone jack. Plus you can page and tallk back and forth between phones like a walkie talkie.

The worst are the ones that I got at Radio Shack, the best is a old Sony, it is about twice the size of the ones on the market now, it is seven years old and keeps on working with a new battery about every two years.

bout a year ago I picked up a 3 phone set Vteck at Sams club $79.95 also got a nutter set fer my mom. They have werked out rite well and a charge will last fer over a week. The range izz not quite like I like around 300 ft. The reception from the house to the shop izz a little sloppy now but if I have the shop doors open they do ok. Not a bad deal fer the money and I like that it saves the last 45 calls # but ya have to have caller ID fer that. I had a couple radio shack phones that werked great took a lickin and kept on tickin but when I went to replaceem the model wuz discontinued so I passed up the other offering and ran across the Vteck, BTWI am a mechanic tote one of"em all the time in the shop so they git treaded rite bad, even leftem under the hood of a car a few times. Left out in the rain, Left one in a car for weeks and when it came back home I did not have to charge it. Have droped them all and the bats came out they just keep on werkin.

Spread Spectrum so the neighbours can't hear what you say. Longer range and less static too.As previously stated a battery in the base unit means the phone still works during a power outage.

I think Radio Shack has a flaw in their phones. I had four go bad over the last year. Two last a month, one abut two months and one about three months. They did give me credit every time and every time I got a more expensive one. I'll see how long this last one works, only had it a month so far (AT&T brand).

I have had good luck with Sony, Panasonic and Motorola phones. In fact the Sony has last over six years and has been dropped no telling how many times.

The only cordless phones I have ever had luck with have been from Sears and they have been baby bell or lucent brand.

The best one I ever had was a lucent with an extra battery that charged in the base. I have never seen another one like it since. That phone lasted forever until the batteries finally died. Could not find replacement batteries.

We've had decent luck w/GE phones.
Paid about $40 if I remember right.
I want to say it lasted about 3 years b/4 the batteries died. We replaced the battery then the phone itself broke. For some reason it didn't like the wall it hit when my 2 y.o. grandson threw it(big grin).
HTH..... don t. .....

I have a southwestern bell one that has lasted for years. Payed around $100 for it about 5 years ago and the only thing I have had to replace on it was the battery. It will last about 24-48 hours on a charge depending on how long yo let the call light flash. Shoot come to think about it, its probably closer to being 10 years old since we had southwestern bell service when we got it and we haven't had them for about 10 years
