Reconditioned and remanufactured tool hunt

I had reason to replace a lot of tools recently and decided that since some of them sit for a while between jobs, maybe I might go for something that was used (the ones I had were used, I figured). There are a few sites that look pretty good. WWW.tool-mall.com has a BBB rating and so does www.boschcpo.tools.com. Are there any that I anybody has had good or bad experiences with? Are warranties expected? Do some tools recon better than others (Miller, Hobard, Clarke)? I'm a young guy on a budget (hence the newdad name) and I'd like to know if this is a good road to go on.

I may be a little late to reply to your specific question about tool-mall.com, but I've had some great luck with them. I got a reconditioned Clarke air compressor for less than half of what the thing normally goes for. The thing looked like it was brand new (the stickers weren't even dirty). I put some oil in, fired it up, and haven't had a single problem with it.
If it means anything - I pointed my dad to the same site. He got another air compressor, a welding helmet and a bunch of tools. I'm past the point of standing in the garage watching my dad wrench on his car, but he hasn't called me to disown me for any of the stuff he bought... so I'm taking that as a good sign!

check out tool crib.com, they sell both new and factory reconditioned name brands.

Locate any Black and Decker out let stores. Sell a mix of reman tools and new items. The part time usage ones have worked well for me. Sort of hit and miss on supply in store I use. Will take back no questions asked if in the return time frame.

I have had good luck with most reman tools. Tyler Tool has been a good source. Another good source of used tools are pawn shops. Have to look at the tools close to make sure they are all there and work. Most brokers offer a guarentee that they work and one that wants you back will treat you OK.
