Anyone have actual experience with these which are advertised on TV? My tools are mostly Craftsman, some of them 50 years old now. Smattering of other brands. This METRINCH set, if all it is claimed to be, would be handy to keep in the truck. Have not seen a set in person, so telling your experience would be very helpful to me. Where are these made (country of origin)?

First, buy 'em on Ebay. You'll find a number of people there who sell the regularly & have great Feedback. Don't pay retail!!!

Ok, I've got two set: a 3/8" & a 1/2"+ under. You have to be careful about the "loose fit". If you think it's loose then get the next size down. In other words, two wrenches might "fit" the same SAE nut, but oinly one really "fits".

I carry a set in each of my work trucks - mostly so I don't have to carry two sets of SAE & Metric.

I find them to be good quality. At least as good as my Craftsman. They are not Asian JUNK. They seem to be well put together & the distributor has been around a long time so replacements should not be a problem. Trouble is - because of the TV infomercial people think they are not good quality!

I have read some of the posts here and what I think is this. If you have a set of inch tools the added cost of a set of metric combination wrenches and a set of sockets will not add much to the total of your tool investment and they they will fit properly. After all you don't need metric screwdrivers, hammers, pliers, etc., just sockets and wrenches. This is what I have, just because as I needed to work on metric stuff I wend and got the minimum of stuff needed to do it, sockets and wrenches, and later a set of metric allen wrenches.

I have a set and many of the pros cuss the tools, but for the truck or tractor in the field they work just fine. They do fit loose and sometimes that can be a problem. I have not broken any and I am sure that a complete Craftsman set maybe better if that was the only tools you have. They are real handy for those times when the shop or barn is not close.

My wife gave me a set of metrinch tools three years ago for christmas. I keep telling her it's one of the best gifts she ever gave me. The only problem I have is the loose fit of the sockets and wrenches that won't allow you to work in a restricted area. I like them so much that I still have the whole set; haven't lost a piece. That's a record for me.

This subject was covered from many angles at a different board. I followed the discussion with interest as I was an employee and salesman for Armstrong Bros. Tool Co. and have some experience with similar products.

Tool seems decent but nothing special like the TV ads claim. Just seems to be a serviceable grade of Taiwanese made handtools. Probably less than your old Craftsman in durability.

The combination of inch and metric on the same tool is worthwhile.

Most who took the time to write to the now defunct board had problems with the TV source. I don't remember the details but several were very, very disappointed.

I think some Sears store carried Metrench tools a year or two ago. Don't know if they still have them but that could be something worth checking out.
