Now that Radio Shack has become a cell phone store, does anyone know where you can get the kind of small electric parts they used te sell. I need some small red led bulbs and push button switches. A catalouge would be good or a decent web site.
Thanks

When I worked radio;tv, all shops had junk rooms full of electronic part. Went to Motorola, same thing. Went in the Navy more junk rooms of parts. Toledo scale same. General Motors more junk rooms of parts. Better save it you can't buy it anymore. If it works and you are in the business, can't go wrong.

How big of a hurry are you in? Somewhere in the shop, there is/was a divided drawer box of items like this I bought at a sale one time.

All Electronics is a good source too. ( I worked at Radio Shack in a previous life. Charles Tandy has to be spinning in his grave over what has happened to his company..... ...)

One that some others haven't mentioned is Allied Electronics. Their catalog is about the same size as the one Mouser. If you find yourself in need of the b"normal" things like terminal ends, "automotive style" connector bodies, master switches, wire, etc try Waytek or Del-City. I've bought alot from Waytek and you can get say 100 ends for the same price you'd pay at Napa or wherever for a pack of 5. Good luck.

I'll echo the Mouser opinions. I've been very satisfied with them.

Local Radio Shack still has some of that stuff in little bins at the back of the store. I found out, however, that I must do all the digging myself. I asked for a panel-mount fuse holder, and none of the three (3) guys in the store knew what I was talking about. When I found them, I took the only two they had. The three sales geeks looked at them like they were alien technology, and one actually said, "What would something like that be used for?"

Mouser likes to sell, quick delivery and no minimum order charge. www.mouser.com There's more inventory on line than in their growing huge catalog.

I'll second the Mouser idea. I've had good luck with them, don't mind small orders, have an excellent selection.

I needed some parts recently and was looking on the net and found Jameco Electronics. I didn't buy anything yet but filled out a request for a catalog and got it in a couple of days.

I just received a new Jameco catalog. its under 200 pages. Mouser's is heading to 2000 pages... But Jameco does have some items that Mouser doesn't.

Allied is most expensive, DigiKey isn't bad but for their minimum order charge for orders under $25.
