I have 2 MM blocks that needs to be bored out 1/8" bigger. What would you think it will cost to do 2 blocks (4 holes)?

Ed

I charge $30.00 per hole to bore and hone a cylinder. I usually do motorcycles, outboards, jet skis, and small engines. I don't bore the block until I have the new piston and specs in hand. I also sleeve engines for about $100.00 pluse the cost of the sleeve. Hope this helps. Neal

Locally it is usually $8.00 per cylinder. This may vary around the country, but that should be a starting figure. A good machine shop should be able to give you an estimate before you start. Doc

I don't know about the cost, .125 over is a good overbore, probably OK, but if there is a lot of rust or there was a core shift a little in the original casting you could get wet. I am not familaiar with these blocks however so I don't know how risky you are being I will admit.

My preference is to get the pistons in hand and then bore. A friend of mine had his block bored and then discovered that pistons for that bore were not avalable. Unless maximum power is the goal, the smallest overbore that will clean up the cylinders (and fit available pistons) seems to me to be the best choice.
