Thanks to all who responded to my question about how much to expect. I done some figuring on 8-11 yards and felt 8 was a tad short but 10 should be ok. I went home for lunch yesterday and decided to call and schedule a time to get a load. I asked him how many yards he put on the truck and he said 10. Just to be sure I had enough I asked if it was possible to get a couple more on the truck. He said it'd be tight. I don't know if he meant weight wise or volume but it's only 3 miles to my house from where he was coming. He said for an extra $20 he'd do it. And he'd bring it right over. Within 20 minutes it was here. I paid $160 for the load. I didn't call around to get the best price but I expect they are all in the same ballpark and this guy is close to me. I believe back in '97 or so you could get a load for about $90 but as we all know things have gone up. I don't remember in 2001 how much I paid for a load but I think it was $120 or so. This would have been $140 w/o the extra 2 yards.

It was tough working a tractor in that tight space to flatten that load. Tractors sure don't like to push backward. I had to keep backing up the pile as far as I could and pulling it down under the tractor until I could finally start knocking some over the top.

You can see some pictures of my project at my web site under the current project link. Link

Neat website. I see that you do this for a living. Sorry 'bout the dog but at 13 years, I would opt out of surgery also. My local vet wanted $1500 to set my 14 YO dog's leg. We splinted it and it healed fine.

Neat project.

Let's go Mountaineers,

Aaron
