Has anyone ever mounted an arc welder on to an old push mower frame to use around the shop?

I have a Lincoln 225 I was thinking about doing this with so I could use it in different areas of the shop. Any thoughts? Thanks

I mounted my Miller roughneck 1E [12 hp. gas] on a HF garden wagon works good. Tires roll easy over rough ground,so it would be a snap in a shop.

I use one of those Harbor Freight $15 flat furniture dollies with a piece of plywood on it. Enough room for cable and accessories also.

Why not try a shopping cart, cut the top part off,and just use the bottom part, much more stable.just my .02 cents worth. Jim in N M

I was with some guys that swiped a shopping cart once, but that was back in college. I think I am a little old for that now!

I put mine on a old tiller frame. Moves good with just the two large wheels.

You didnt mention if it was gas powered or a buzz box, but I mounted my 225 weldenpower(gas) by cutting off the floor plate on a hand truck, laying it face down and mounting casters on the other end(top) and extending the handle with a T-handle made from water pipe, the wheelbarrow tires work great in the yard but the castering wheels (6in) could have stood to be a little bigger for soft ground. just one way around the barn...Don

I had my oxy/acetylene torch mounted on a push lawn mower frame for awhile. It was better than nothing, but not much better. Took up lots of space, and really wasn't all that easy to maneuver.

Hi weldor,

I can't see any reason it wouldn't work; even the cheesey wheels most lawnmowers have nowadays should handle that much weight okay. It will take up more floor space in your shop than if you bolted the welder onto a hand truck. Lincoln buzzboxes usually come with a set of little wheels on the back corners, don't they? If so, then bolting or welding on a handle that's a few feet higher than the top of the welder accomplishes the same thing as attaching the welder to a hand truck---at least as far as wheeling it around on a smooth, flat surface is concerned.

All the best, Stan

Wheels are extra. All you need are a pair of wheels from a retired lawn mower and some 1/2 cr steel for an axle.

I screwed two plywood strips on the bottom so my pushcart could pick it up. Its exactly the right width.
