I'm repainting my 36 yr. old wooden garage doors. I have removed them, plus all of the hardware. I've done all of the surface preparation. Needless to say it's been a lot of work and I'm not looking to save money. What would be the best choice of white paint? I also have a limited amount of trim work on the house to paint next summer and would like to use the same paint. Any reccommendations?

If you are talking latex paint the better paints have more aluminium-oxide. Bear paints from Home Depot has a lot in it for the price. With the age you are talking you may be going over oil base paint and maybe lead. Use of primer will make any paint look better but if you are going from oil base to latex you must prime first.

I've had good luck with Sears paint. I always buy it on sale.

I'm not sure whether you were looking for a brand or a type of paint. There are advantages and disadvantages with both oil and latex based paints. Those are outlined in the website listed below. My personal favorite has been Martin Senour semigloss outside latex paintbecause of its durability and pigment qualities. There is also an ongoing debate as to whether to use an oil or latex based primer.

Get the Pittsburg sunproof house and trim, semi-gloss latex. Used the flat for a lot of years, but semi-gloss sheds the water better. Exspenive but well worth it
