Has anyone tried one of those HF retractable air hoses? Our local HF store has a 50 footer for about $60. Do they last? Do they leak? Are they worth the money? Thanks for all the replies.

I got one bout 5 years ago when they were around $100 and have not had enny problem. If they do leak all you have to do izz replace a o-ring or 2, the same goes fer a $400.00 one the o-rings will ware and EZ to replace. Most of the time I dont takeem down just pull the cover from the side and replace the O-ring in the swivel.

I got one of the el cheapo ones on sale for $9.99. I have been well pleased with it. It does it's swivel on an airhose fitting so the seal is as good as your fitting.
I am going to get another one when I catch them on sale again.

I got the 50' auto rewind from them almost three years ago,it's showing on sale now for $99. Can't remember what I paid for mine but it wasn't that, much cheaper. Northern tools had exactly the same reel only $20 more. I have not had the first problem with mine and I use it frequently.

Don't have one from HF, but I did buy one from the Cummins tool truck several years ago and no problems so far. Occasionally it will seep a little air from the rotary connection, but only a wee bit and never for very long. For the price I paid I figure if it ever does give trouble I'll just scrap it and buy another.

I've also got one of the Cummin's reels which is also sold by several other places including ebay. I think mine is about 5 years old and it's starting to leak a little bit but I'm happy enough with it that I bought a second one for the shop and one for the service truck as well.

Just make sure you don't buy the plastic colered air hose. Those things are hard as a rock in the cold. They do sell nice soft rubber Goodyear hose thats is a lot better. Any thing I buy at Harbor I open up at the store and inspect it top to bottom. Somtimes I even take stuff apart in the parking lot after I buy it to make sure the one I bought was made right.

Roger on the rubber hose, not only flexible when it"s cold but lasts a LONG time.
