mostly likely, there is a lot of isp's out there that is being used. i have beening using one for about 2 yrs. lately i'm getting a lot of disconnects. how many of you reccomend the one you are using. checking to see if could get a more reliable one. thanks

I have a dial up now and have been looking to change. I can not find any that will not cost arm and leg . I do not have Cable so there highspeed is the other rate (high). I don't have a local phone carrer . The local phone said they want it all Phone and DSL or nothing . So right now it is wait and see if someone comes in new

We get good service from Time Warner cable (expensive) but at the house we're building we'll have to use Hughes Satellite ($59 month). I hear from friends its pretty good. 'Course we also have to get another dish for TV. Grr.

Who ya using?

Most of the disconnects are phoneline related unless your using AOL. But many of these issues can be stablized by lowering the buss speed for the modem to 57600. Windows? go into the control panel and then modems and look for a speed setting. It usually is set at 115000. Lower it to 57600. If your running XP go into the properies for your connection and do the same. In the properties where it says connect using click the configure button and lower the max speed to 57600. While your in there go to the networking tab and check Client for Microsoft Networks. Click ok and see how this works for ya.
I work for an ISP and this does help sometimes.

I was having the same problems about a year ago. I just made it a point to call them on the phone every time I lost service, and I mean everytime, immediately. Didn't take too long and no more problems.

Wireless or cable, DSL if you are within 5? miles of the telephone office. Anything is better than dialup. I have wireless that is actually cheaper than the dialup I used to have with a 2nd phone line. Also can get it by satellite, but for me that is more expensive. If you must have dialup, forget the national companies sucn as AOL and get a local ISP, if you have one--better service.
