Remanufactured Tools

I just bought a Campbell Hausfeld compressor that is remanufactured. I got it on sale and was 1/2 the price of a new regular one. It came with a one year warranty. I tried it out this morning and seems to work good. Has anybody had any experience with remanufactured tools? ...especially a Campbell Hausfeld compressor? Thanks Bob

If you notice a tool company that offers a no risk trial period thta is how they get reman tools.You but the tool and don't like it/finish the job and return it to the retailer they send it to the manufacturer for remaning.Lots of times the tool has been used very little or broke right out of the box.

Not Campbell Hausfield but I did buy a reman Porter Cable sabre saw. It came from the Porter Cable reman facility in Tennesee through H.F. and it was a total disaster. It was reallly worn, the blade roller was rusted tight, the grease was hard and no longer lubing the gears and the commutator was all grooved and shot. I also bought a reman Dewalt miter saw that was like brand new and it has served me well. I guess you just take your chances and try to protect yourself by getting a good warranty with the reman product or pass it by.

I bought this one in PA at a Busy Beaver home improvement store. It is oilless kind, vertical, 26 gal, 5 hp compressor for $137 bucks. I used it more again today and seems to work alright. Seems to be mixed reviews of reman tools so I hope I got a good one.

Ryobi weed trimmer....they never inspected it...it got harder and harder to start...I finally took it apart and the cylinder was scored and the rings were almost welded to the cylinder. Evidently, who ever bought it ran it without mixing oil and fuel, scored the cylinder and gave it back and then I got it. The factory never checked it out but sent it back for sale. I got stiffed for $69...could have been worse.

Not with the compressors but I have with there preassure washers. I got one from them last summer for one that had smoked on me, the one they sent me lasted a day before I called them back. They then sent me another one but it got cold out before I could test it out

I have purchased many reman power tools and use them daily. Most look like they were never used or opened up. Suspect they were returns to stores and back to the mfg who tested them and then resells them as reman. Have not had much problems with them and when I have the repair shop treats them like new warr. tools. Figure that they have seen more testing and inspection than a new tool and are probably a Better tool than new in that respect. Have not purchased a Campbell Hausfield compressor that way but would not hesitate to if the right one came my way! Go for it and good luck!
