I just picked up an old lincoln gas drive welder for free..it is a 400 amp with a six cylender continetal gas. I was wondering if anyone had any idea of a year or any information about it or where I might be able to order parts. ANy help would be great :) Thanks alot

Travis, those engines are all over the place. (well. the 4 cylinders are anyways). They practically run forever if taken care of. Most auto part store can order the parts and many will stock the parts. Welding Supply stores can get just about anything for them as well. Also, if the carb. shaft is real loose, don't buy a complete carb. unless you have to because they do sell bushing kits and butterfly shafts for most of those old carbs.

Lincoln still is a great company, and they can and will provide you with information on machines they made. WWW.Linclonelectric.com
The Continental is probably an F 226, a lot of parts are still available.

Continental is still around but good luck dealing with them. They most definitely don't support their older gas engines. I'm just finishing the switch to a Ford 300. Very similar stroke. I have a 50's Linkbelt that had two different Continental engines. One's still working and I'm hoping for the best. And, no, their newer engines do not replace the old ones even if you don't mind paying $4000 for a bare block. Hope your engine's in good condition. NAPA can help with tune-up parts.
