Is there such an adapter to adapt a male Jacobs taper (on the spindle) so I can run Morse taper shank drills? Adapter will have female tapers on both ends. Thanks in advance. J.

I've got two drill-presses that do just the opposite. Both came with a Jacobs chuck - which is mounted on a male morse-taper stub. That stub - can be pulled out, thus leaving a female morse taper to be used with morse bits.. One is an old drill press - I bought used over 30 years ago, and the other is a modern Chinese El-Cheapo.

My Dayton 20 inch drill press does this, it uses a n adapter with a male Morris taper into the spindle of the drill press and a male Jacobs taper to mount the chuck on. You use a Drill Drift to remove the adapter from the spindle.

Run down the spindle and see if it has a slot cut in the side of it, if so you probably can see the top of the adapter that the chuck mounts on. Grainger sells drill drifts for a couple of dollars. Drive it in the slot and it pops the adapter right out.

Nope, if you have a male jacobs taper, it is for a chuck. You might could make something, but by the time you got an adapter that would take the Jacobs taper and a #2 or #3 Morse female, you'd have one long wobbly rig there and you'd probaby have no room left to the table with a drill of any size in it. Slap a chuck on this one and keep an eye out for a bigger press with a Morse socket in the spindle.

I have never seen an adapter to do what you want.. As a rule, only the more expensive drill presses have a female Morse taper.. Most of the newer drills use the stub male Jacobs taper, limiting you to only using a chuck...
