Compare it with a Lincoln or Miller. Can the Mig gun and cable (liner) be repaired? or do you just throw it out and buy a new one. Sometimes spending a little more gives you a better value. Dave

I have been useing my Clarke 180EN now for 3 years and just love it. They are made in Italy and have been around since 1937 if I recall my research from 2004 correctly. At the time I bought it, I could not find them for sale in local stores, so I got it from weldingdepot.com on line. Got one of their package deals with the welder, Self Darkening Helmet, Regulator, Gloves and Mig Cart. Total with shipping was $531.00 to my door. Any parts can also be bought on line if they are ever needed. Of course my unit is a 220v welder with the use of gas as an option, so it is a bit more of a machine then the 110v models. It is always a good idea to buy tools that have more capacity than what you plan to use them for. John

i have one and like the other said, it will work a while and quit. then adjust and work it a while and it will quit, etc... just cheap made, but i have managed to get some weling done with it, but make sure the tips are replaced regulary so the wire won't fuse to the tip end. also make sure to adjust the wire feed spool tension just right or it won't feed correctly and cause a host of other problems. My brother bought one, we could get it to work, then would quit feeding, work on it again, adjust it, use it , worked then quit feeding, ot feeding real erratic. Bought a little cheap Lincoln gas less welder, man what a world fo differance. worked great right out of box, have run a couple spools of wire throught it and no problems at all.

Don't know about their welders specifically, but Clarke in general seems to be Tractor Supply's (and perhaps Rural King, but the stores are known as Tractor Supply Corp or TSC here in NY) house brand for the typical China stuff you'd get from Harbor Freight, Northern Tool, or the traveling tool shows. As such, every experience I've had or heard of with these welders has been pretty dismal.
