I recently acquired A Ford 8n early 1943 upgraded to 1948 .. I need to find a steering box or need to know what to do to tighten up the one on there now.. the steering wheels turns a whole 1/2 turn without moving the front wheels. Also want to figure out a way to put a hydraulic pump and loader arms and bucket on this. i am a welder so can do this with some help from the tractor hobbiests that have experience with this.. any all help suggestion appreciated. Well first off there never has been and never will be a 1943 8N ford. The first year the 8N was built was 1948, they started them off the line in 1947 but still called them 1948. 8Ns have a 4 speed tranny in them. Now if it is really a 1943 then its a 2N which I would have a steering box for. Heres a ruff time line for the N series tractors. 1939-1941 they made the 9N then in 1942 they started makeing the 2N and it was made till 1947. Then in 1948 they made the 8N and it was made till 1952. In 1953 they came out with the Jubilee.
