I have an old but good NU TONE brand garage door but can't find a source for a replacement remote control and a required separate reciever that connects with two wires to opener. can anyone help me locate what I need .

I had an old exhaust hood for a kitchen stove that was made by NU TONE. I finally found parts for it at Broan.com. [They took over the fan division of nu-tone.] There were also links to other parts divisions.

Lowes and/or Home Depot have the ones with the self contained receiver. I bought one not too long ago for the same reason as you, couldn't find a replacement remote. Receiver looks like a wall-wart power transformer, connects to the door opener's pushbutton wires. The transmitters are the nice key-fob sized ones also, not a big chunky remote.

You can get a universal replacement receiver w/remotes that incorporates rolling code technology. I bought one at Home Depot a few years ago; I think it was the Genie brand.

In my experience, that's the most common reason openers get replaced. In a few short years, remotes are no longer available.

Do you just need the "clicker" or is the receiver bad too?

You might try calling this supplier of of obsolete Nutone parts...

Most of the time,you can substitute a transmitter(remote) and receiver from a different door opener manufacturers such as a Genie Intellicode, Stanley, Linear(moore o matic) or Sears. Just make sure you get the wiring diagram with the unit you choose..

Have you already tried a search on the internet? It seems that you can google for almost anything these days. Another good place you may want to try is an ACE Hardware Store. Seems like whenever I have something that I can't find replacement/repair parts they are able to help me out.
