We have a couple of 5lb. bags of wild bird seed in our back room (laundry room/furnace room/practice room). My wife opened one up the other day, and every since then, we have had all these little moths back there. What can I do to get rid of them? I am going to get rid of the bag of seed, but is there anything I can do about the moths that are already there? Just FYI... this is a habitable space and we have a little dog (maltese), too...

Sounds like meal moths. They can be a real pain once in the house if you do not kill them. Will get into baked goods, corn meal, taco shell. If you do not get all the moths you will find small worms shortly after.

Put your seed in the freezer, a great place to store it,and you will never have a bug problem.

Any flying insect household insecticide. Eliminate the source (the seed) and they won't be back.

Take your dog out for a few hours -- the mild household stuff should not cause any problem after it kills the moths.

We had the same problem with the moths. You can get moth traps at the local hardware or feed store that catch them on a stickey surface

Moth balls?? Just remember where you put them because you will want the mothball smell out of your loundry room once the moths are gone.

You can also put a shop light on the floor at night. Leave your shop vac on next to the light and they will get sucked up. I chase them in the shop with the vac just for fun. woohoo!!
