Merry Christmass everyone:

I'm looking at buying a blast cabinet, and I wonder if anyone has experience with the "Bad Boy Blaster" or the ones we see advertised in Green Mag and Two cylinder magazine?

Thanks

Wayne

www.tptools.com

Go to the abrasive cabinet section and then go to parts, nozzles, accessories, plans and books.

As I am going to do. I got a catalog to get the gloves and fastening hardware from. Just use an outdoor HD floodlight for the inside the box illumination.

I just used an extra drop light that was laying around, but it is starting to suffer a bit from all of the sand. In the picture you can see a hose running down the side? It is connected to a shop vac.

Is the shop vac just to clear the dust Rusty ? That was what I was thinking.

Yes, the shop vac is to pull the dust out. Without it the dust gets so thick that you can't see. I have more pics if you are interested.

Most all of them are good but be sure to size the gun nozzles to your air supply for best results. You can buy or build the suction tube and gun and easily build your own cabinet too and just use a shop vac on it. The TIP ones have been around a long time and good for the price. My cabinet is military surplus and I bought a smaller gun for it and copied the TIP suction tube design and it works great. Like for any blaster you'll need a good dry air supply and filter seperators on your air system. tptools.com

Don, I'm sure you could do that also if nozzle isn't too big for glass beads if that's what you want instead of sand. Sand gets kind of dirty in a cabinet and scatches your viewing window bad. Lots of us use or have used home made cabinets before with plexiglas window or even tempered glass window. Before I had a pressure pot sand blaster and seperate blast cabinets for beads I used a siphon type sand blaster and it was a Sears same as Cambell Hausfield then or SpeedAire guns that Granger sold and it worked fine with glass beads also in a home made cabinet. Lots of ways to make a cabinet to use and TIP has plans and parts for them too. Just be sure to use plexiglas, Lexan or thick tempered glass in your viewing window and not regular glass. I saw one guy make his cabinet from what he had using coffee cans for the glove holders and cheap gloves from hardware store. Any vaccuum will help clear the cabinet of dust and you can double up on filters to help make it last longer.

I used the gun set-up from a Craftsman unit I bought a few years ago. I think the same gun is available from Coleman-Powermate. Probably can find one at TSC or other farm supply type store.
