I have a 86 Ford extended cab 4x4 F250.

I just sold it to a friend. I wanted to give it to him but he insisted on paying for it. So, we agreed on scrap value for the durn thing. Now he wants to know how much it weighs so he can write me a check. It would have been so easy for him to just take it, but, he is stiffnecked about buying it.

What the heck does this thing weigh?

I told him 2,300 pounds and he just laughed.

Please help me here.

mud (who can"t even give a truck away without some snafu)

According to the Certificate of Title, my '86 F250 extended cab 2 wheel drive with 460 engine has an unladen weight of 5680lbs. When it was weighed at the smog test station the rear axle was 4000lbs. I didn't own the truck then, so I don't know if there was anything in the bed. The test is conducted on a dynomometer at 15 and 25 mph. The drive axle is run on the rollers and automaticaly weighed at the start of the test. The unladen weight of your truck may be on your ownership papers.

agree with the 5000-6000 lb range.

BTW, you'd be a pretty good friend to have.

The GVWR on my 92 F-250 is 8800 # ,so I figure if I dumped a ton in the bed that would really make it squat down. My guess would be 6000# . Just dicker with him and keep raisin the weight till the smile goes off his face and you will both be happy.

A 1980 Chevy 3/4 ton, 4x4, standard cab, weighs 4800, so I'd put your truck at about 5200.
