110 volts. Weighs 8 lbs. Uses up to 3/32 electrodes. 35% duty cycle at 80 amps, 60% at 60, 100% at 50. Any thoughts or experience?

Stan

Stan: I do not know any thing about HF welders ,but I have looked at and asked questions about them before.I recently purchased for around $379.00 a Lincoln 100 Fluxcore Wire Feed ,120 volt S-PH.and am extremely pleased with it. It does all my intermitant Welding I use it for ,20 Ga. to 1/4 " Cold Roll. I have even used it on a 50' Drop Cord Welding on a Gate I bought from Lowes so you know the thickness of steel it will handle on the low side.It is very portable weighing not more than 30 Lbs I think. It's not $89.95 price wise but it will last me a long time so I am comfortable with the price. My other Welder is a Forney 225 Buzzer I purchased in the 1970's and it still works very well.

I have the ArcOne 80 I got from HarborFreight about 1 year ago.It does tig ok and only 1/16 308 stainless rod's.It say's it can do 6013 but I never tried because I don't like that rod.Should get my Miller 150STL on Wednesday that I won on Ebay, hope it work's.I need a machine that can do 1/8 6011 and I understand this can. Those buzzbox's are heavy and hurt me for day's every time I lift one.I see those 160-200 amp inverter's from China selling for around 200-250 dollar's.Most are 220volt only,I wish I new someone who had one so I could talk to them about it.I like the dual voltage model's.

Thanks for the comments. I typed the original question while waiting for my wife to get ready for an event we were running late for (there's a hot news item.) I realized that I should have added a few facts but as I went back to do so she said she was ready so I didn't get a chance.

The relevant info is that I have plenty of welders already---mostly Lincolns, Hobart, and others; stick, MIG, engine driven, oxy/fuel, and even a battery setup. What I don't have is a 120 volt welder, or anything weighing less than 60 lbs. I also don't have much occasion to need such a piece of equipment, so I can't justify spending the $500+ it would cost to get a quality inverter welder. Can't actually make a good case for spending any amount to get a piece of crap, either. I guess I was hoping someone would tell me that this particular welder was a hidden gem. Oh well.

Merry Christmas all, Stan

What are they worth? Inverters are usually DC output, but AC inverters for TIG are really high tech. The Miller Dynasty series use the same sharpened tungsten for steel or aluminum and don't even need continuous high frequency on aluminum. At work we have a 220 volt 130 amp Thermal Arc. Weighs about 14 lbs. and really compact. When it's working right it welds very nice. It is one of the first compact inverters and cost over $2000 bucks when new. They've come down in price, but are expensive to fix. A lot of plastic in it. I think the new machines are a lot better. Still nice when you have to carry it up a couple hundred narrow steps to the top of the roller coaster 160 some feet up. Dave

At twenty cents a pound, I'd say it's worth $1.60. Slightly more if you are willing to strip the copper yourself.

I was talking about stripping the insulation off the cord.

You wont find much copper in inverter welders. They do away with trans formers but repair costs are high when they fail.As one long time welder said, dont bother with the cheap migs. They will discourage you if you are learning welding. My miller 135 weighs 65 pounds, check the weight on the HF.I bought it used with a leather welding jacket, several rolls of wire and small tools for 300.00.The owner had passed on and his son had no use for it.I could have bought a new mig for the same money. You will need gas for body work as flux core will eat your paint job.Good tools cost money..

Hey Stan;I doubt if the Chinese used copper in it. Probably aluminum!!
