Hi..I'm changing the oil filter/oil on my friends atv...I changed out the 2 orings the books says to do, and am wondering if the oil filter is supposed to slide over that tube and stay in place..Right now, It feels to me like it won't fit over...Hope this makes sense..deanop...

What year/model? On my 2000 King Quad (LT300F) the filter is held in place by the cover.

its around a 1992..I took the cover off thats held by 3 acorn nuts and in the center there is a bolt (the owners manual doesn't mention the bolt, and I have no idea what you'd do with it)..theres a spring on the other side of the cover to keep tension on the filter. I put the filter in, but to my way of thinking it should go over that tube that you put the little o ring on, but it doesn't seem like it does..Do you think I should call it good, with the element centered and the cover correctly installed? the numbers on frame are jsaj45a op210021s LT-4wd..Thanks deanop

I'm assuming the "tube" is hollow, and there's a hole in one end of the filter that matches it? If so, yes I'd say the filter should go over the tube.

Does it not fit over the tube at all, or too tight, or doesn't go on far enough to get the cover on? If it's one of those, double check to make sure you got the right O-ring and the right filter.

I definitely would NOT fire it up until I was sure I had the filter on properly.
