My Hobart is just fine - as long as you limit yourself to 1/4" MAX!

Frankly in some cases I like it better than my 250 because it is so portable AND runs on regular household current as opposed to 220.

I have had the HH 135 (which was the previous model) for about 4 years. It has been excellent, I have replaced a lot of sheet metal with it. I am not sure about the gear issue the other guy mentioned, ask your question at the weld talk (Hobart) site. You will get very good responses.

Check the wire drive system in the Hobart then look at the Miller. Miller makes both Hobart and Miller. I don't think you will find any plastic gears in the Miller. You will pay about $100 more for the Miller over the Hobart..

I've had one about a year or two. It's a good welder for 1/4" or less metal. One thing about mig welding is the metal has to be shinny to get an arc. If metal has rust you have to grind it. Hobart, Miller or Lincoln all make good mig welders.
