Just talked with my nephew who owns a hobby store featuring model planes and he recommended Plastiweld made by Plastruct. It is a liquid plastic welder designed to melt the two plastic pieces together creating a plastic to plastic bond.

Likely, the peg can be easily replaced, a much better "fix" than gluing it, and having the shelf fall out sometime later, when the glue fails!

I think most fridge liners are ABS... Model car glue should work fine.. ABS is very similar to Polystyrene..

Testers model glue is the best for polystyrene as it softens and fuses the welded component boundaries back into each other. Any other form of adhesive relies on a keying effect to make the bond. Use the right one the firsat time or the contamination from the first attempt may destroy any chance to use a correct adhesive later.

I've had good luck with both Gorilla Glue and Seal All.
