I have recently placed my Quincy 310 in service. It has sat for 5 years in my garage and it pumped fine when placed there. Upon firing it up it turns over slow and air is being pumped into and out of the intake pipe.

Im going out to remove the head and investigate for a sticky valve or something and would like to see if there is some advice. Im also interested in seeing an exploded view or parts diagram to find out how the rest of it ticks.

Id appreciate any help!

Thanks ahead of time,

OK! New scenario! :(

FYI - there is oil, oil pressure, non stiicking unloader, tight (but not to tight) belts.

Its now an electrical problem - Im 99% sure! After trying and checking several things, I eventually removed the head from the 310. While at that stage, I decided to try turning it over and got the same results! Im consulting with a local electrician buddy to see whats up with it.
Sounds like its stuck in start up, low speed mode.

I will keep you up to speed with the outcome though!

Hello again! Well, the problem was found in the wiring. Apparently when it ran last the wiring was bass ackwards for the shop I was in. Problem corrected and she runs great.

But still though, thanks for the great information that will be used in the future!

Merry Christmas

I have Quincy manual in PDF format on my computer from school but I can not figure out how to transfer the PDF to you on this site. My strength is not computers.
I do not how to put them on the "Optional Link"
I went to "Tiny Pic" but I dont think that it supports PDF files.
If you told me how to transfer the PDF's, I would send them to you.

As Richard said, no oil pressure = no air pressure. If oil pressure is ok, check for a stuck unloader. Remove the hexagonal cap off of the tower on top of the intake valve area of the head, and see if the metal puck under the rubber diaphragm slides up and down freely. If it stuck down, it will hold the intake valve open. You can pull the control line from the unloader while it is running and see if there is any air coming from it. If there is, and there is sufficient oil pressure (15psi+) then your hydraulic unloader valve needs overhauling or replacing. Make sure you oil level is ok before anything else, as too low an oil level will cause all of these symptoms if there isn't enough oil in the crankcase to allow pressure to build.

Are you getting oil pressure? Mine has a small gauge on the lower end. You need oil pressure before it will close the unloaders. It could also be the unloaders themselves not setting right. I had to redo them on mine. Turning slow kinda makes me think you've got no oil pressure, only cause it will take longer to build with the thing turning slow and after sitting a long time. Are the belts slipping?

She can e-mail you all the parts and operators manuals. She helped me out with my 325.
