Lincoln Bobcat 250

looking at buying a welder/generator for fence and barn building. I have a line on a Lincoln Bobcat 250 w/10,000 watt generator. I am buying it from a widow so she has little knowledge about the machine. It is about 2 years old and seems to run and work fine, the hour meter is under 45. I had looked it up on the internet and offered her $3000.00 for the machine and accessories (cover, 50 lbs 6011 rods un-opened, 50 lbs 7018 rods un-opened, 50 leads),she thought that was way too much, so we finally agreed on $2500.00.

I don't know much about this welder so I am trying to get past the "Miller info" to real world what do you think of this machine.

I have the Miller Bobcat 225G. It has the 16hp (I Think) Onan engine with the LP gas conversion on it. Picked it up at auction for $400. I have 50ft leads with quick-connector's on them so I can use the leads with my Lincoln 225 buzz box or the Miller. One of the nice things about the Miller. If something brakes out in the field. I can just throw the welder in the back of the truck and go.

Are you sure that it"s a "Lincoln Bobcat". I beleive Lincoln makes a Ranger 250 and Miller makes a Bobcat 250. Both are good machines and are running close to 4K right now.There were some problems a couple years ago with the Onan engine valve train I heard about. Coulda been the operator or wrong oil in it.
I have a new Miller Bobcat 250 on order, supposed to be here around the end of the month. Too bad it"s not mine but will be mounted on my new 06" F550 4X4 6spd 6.0PSD service truck with a State of AZ liscence plate on t.

Well other then it will not hold value as well as a Miller will thats probably a go price for it. If you take good care of it the thing should last you a life time. I have an old lincoln 225 with an onan engine and it works just fine and I have had it for more then 10 years, and the guy I got it from got it new way back when. He gave it to me just before he died back in 1994
