Propane Hookup

Calling on those in the trade.
I bought my radiant heater and it should arrive next week. It is a 40ft unit and my shop is 50ft. Pretty sure I will center the unit.
Anyway my question is about the gas line, I was thinking of using 3/4" black pipe inside the shop and then going to copper for the line outside the shop to the propane tank. Can I run the pipe inside the walls and come down through the ceiling to make my connection? I want to do as much myself before the fnal hookup and test by a HVAC guy to save some money.
Hard to find much info on the net about this.
Any pics of installs would be great.

soft copper is used in the trailer park from propane tank to a fitting on the trailer of black pipe to the furnace. the propane company can tell you what is being used now by customers. btw my steel gas line went bad from the road to the house and i dug up each end and shoved a yellow plastic liner thru the old 1 inch black pipe . lucas

The heater is 100,000 BTU and the tank will be not more than a 40 foot run to the heater connection.
So Icould use 1/2" black pipe?

1/2" pipe is okay for 100,000 btu but steel pipe with joints not okay for burial in ground. Must be solid or welded joints by certified welder.

Depending on how far you have to go 3/4" may be larger than you need ? It mat be just right ? I didn't have to go too far so I used 1/2" black pipe from near heater down wall and through the wall then you hook up the 2 nd stage regulator then I ran a special made plastic tubing 1/2" ? from reg. underground 150' to the 1st stage reg. at tank. alot cheaper than copper nowadays. At the heater I used one of those special flexible metal pipes made to hook up gas appliances. It's getting very hard to buy this stuff for the DIY people. I was lucky to find a propane place to sell me the stuff and advise me.

Corrugated stainless steel tubing (CSST) the whole way from regulator to heater easy to work with flexible and listed to work with gas in low pressures. 3/4" will work might be able to use 1/2". What is the BTU's on the heater? That will determine size. Good luck.

I don't know about your area but where I live gas lines have to be installed by a certified pipe fitter. I think I would run the black pipe all the way to the tank and just use a flex line or short piece of copper line to connect to tank.
