I bought a ca. $140 quiet (relatively) Shop-Vac 2 years ago while camping at the Jersey shore (had an accident in the camper - getting a nice new tool took a bit of the edge off a really stinky situation).

The vacuum died a couple weeks ago. Paper work said it has a 3 yr warranty for home use, but you need you reciept to get service at a local authorized service center. After some looking - no reciept. I called Shop-Vac number on their web site to plead for authorization to have it looked at.

I am glad to say that there was no pleading necessary. The woman asked for the model information, then took my name and address and said they will ship a new motor to me, now questions asked.

Similar situation to experience Old (I think it was Old) related about Campbell-Hausfeld a few months ago. It is nice that there are some companies still concerned about their customers.

Tim

Glad you had such results. I wish I could say the same for Coleman. I have a 7 or 8 year old Blu Max compressor that the motor is bad in, and repalcements are not available.

Coleman bought Sanborn a while back. When my Sanborn needed a new cylinder head, they told me they had discontinued that model, no parts, so sorry, buy a new compressor. I was able to repair old head with a lot of delicate work with my Dremmel. When the Sanborn finally dies, I won"t be buying a Coleman.

Shop-Vac must have wised up & changed their policy. About 10 years ago, I bought a 600 dollar stainless Shop Vac for our business. It was the sorriest vac I ever used, would not pick up sawdust off the floor. I called ShopVac, the said that I had to return it , at my expense, & they would send me an estimate of how much it would cost to fix.. & it was just a few weeks old.. I just chalked it off to experience, But I have also convince a lot of other people never to buy a ShopVac product!!!!
