reversing directions on an AC lectric motor

I have a small 110V AC electric motor..1/3 or 1/2 horse and I want to reverse it's rotation. Some motors have a little diagram showing this, but this one doesn't.

The post on the left has a light brown wire and a heavy red wire on it. The right post has a light brown wire and a smaller solid core red wire to it. The power cord of course, attaches to each side of both these posts.

What wires need reversing to change direction? I searched the net looking for a simple schematic and found nothing! Thanks.

If the motor doesn't have a diagram showing the reversal of the motor, it probably cannot be done. Some have the windings connected nut and stud on terminals and some have the windings hardwired and would be impossible to reverse, with stud and nut for the external wire connections/speed switch connections.

There are starting windings and running windings. Both are used for starting, and then the starting windings are unhooked, usually with a centrifugal switch. The motor is reversed by reversing the hookup of either set of windings. For example, if the running winding leads are A and B and the starting winding leads are C and D, the motor now has A hooked to C and B hooked to D. You need to change it so A and D are hooked together and B and C are hooked together. A continuity test can tell you which leads are on the same windings.

When checking with an ohm meter the start windings will be maybe 500-120 ohms. The run windings will be 3-10 ohms. Just run the power in the opposite direction through either the start or the run windings.Don't swap both or the direction won't change.

Thanks for the suggestions. Frankly, most of what you fellows said was lost on me as I am an electric moron.

The good news is, I switched the red wires and reversed the motor.
