Hello Guys, I just purchased a 1948 model A John Deere in a non running state. The magneto would not fire when I got it so I worked on it little and now have spark but when the engine fired for the first time I instantly developed a leak around the canister oil filter cover. When I tried to tighten the nut it just turns around and around like the nut is stripped. I have tried to remove this nut to install a new filter and o-ring but for the life of me I cant get this cover off. Is this nut stripped or am I missing something here?
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks
Tcb

Sounds like water has got in it and froze and busted the top of the oil filter housing.
