Do any of you know where (state/city, etc.) one would find the best deals on salt/rust free trucks? Looking for a HIGH mileage, later model, rust free, one ton Chevy.

Any where in Arizona south of the Mogolon Rim.No Salt used on the roads here. Don't even use Calcium Chloride on the Dirt Roads. No Moisture to make it work. Ford Dealer in Wickenburg has several Duallys but they are all High Dollar late Models.

Check with TIPS company in Lawrenceburg,Tn.
They get trucks from the TVA. These trucks are all high mileage but well cared for and rust free. Most come from TVA sites in Alabama.

Wyoming near the Black Hills. They use alot of Chevy 1 tons in the coal mines there.

Cities around here in East Texas and even in Dallas usually use sand instead of salt. We get more ice storms than snow and the sand helps with the traction.

I have purchased truck beds & parts in Oklahoma. Rust free & they are very reasonable on price. Check out Rick's auto repair in Chakota Okl. VERY nice fello, can't find his phone no. on my desk, again.

We only salt the roads once or twice a year, sometimes more. (You never know what kind of winters we're going to have!!)

But there's LOTS of trucks running around here that meet your criteria. Check autotrader or ebay.

No place but TEXAS!, We do not use Salt down here on the roads. We do see lots of cars and trucks from up North way. I am pretty close to Ft. Hood and the soldier from up North do bring quite an assortment down here. later,

Definately not in Ct. Be sure that if you do purchase a vehicle from these areas that they spent their entire Life there. Some Northern vehicles end up down South. Check out Desert Valley Auto Parts on line in Arizona for a tour. I's say Nevada, or some dry air state like Colorado. Nothing beats a rust free car or truck. Just check Ebay and you will notice a big price difference for rust free Arizona etc. areas. Good luck. Had a 54 Chevy 5 window truck with sidemount spare, no rust, no bondo, no welded panels. Unfortunately sold it. It had come from Arkansas.

Dads got a 1981 Ford F350 with a dump bed. Rust Free and in OHIO even ! Never take it out in the winter,low miles too. So you never know where you might find a rust free one.

Anywhere south of west virginia and southeastern PA. We've goten alot of the western carolinas. Most times when you find one in great shape, they need some engine work. Where cars tend not to rust, they et more mileage put on them. Best thing to do is buy a nice one from down south, buy a junker here and put the motor from the junker into the nice looking truck.

Well, I guess some of this is relative. I'm always on the lookout for rust-free trucks. Josh from PA mentions Texas, and here in New York, we usually look for southern PA vehicles. Some of the PA stuff I've seen is worlds better than what we have here in central New York. And, of course, Texas, Louisiana, Arizona, New Mexico - but it's all to far for me. I'm in central New York and trucking from the west is not cost-effective. Some of our roads get salted in the summer as well as winter. I'm sure that half of all my auto repairs are from salt damage, not wear. Many of the southern states have clean vehicles if they are interior and not near salt water. In Florida, many vehicles rust from the roof down, instead of the ground-up - from the salt and moisture in the air. I recently bought a 94 Ford F250 from New Jersey and it is spotless. If it had been from here, there'd be nothing left of the sheetmetal.
I also bought an 85 Ford F250 from the state of Maryland - described as "rust free" through Ebay. Got it trucked home - and what a mess! Best I can tell, the truck was used to haul boats in and out of salt-water. The body looks good - but the axles, springs, frame, etc. look like they've been immersed in acid for 10 years.

Also make sure they don't salt the dust down it the summer!! That salty dust sucks up in every nook and cranny and rusts just like the ice melt salt does. Up here in Michigan they do both.Need I say more? Can't sell new ones if'n the ole ones don't rot away!
