I have been putting up the same 2 cows for the last week. I have 2 farms that are about !/2 a mile apart. I have these 2 cows that get out at either place and I knew there was 1 bad spot in the fence ( across the beaver pond). I would put these cows up and they would be back in the yard in less than a hour. This morning I found a hole in both pastures where the wire had been cut through all 4 strands. New deer stands within sight of both holes and 1 had drag marks right accross it. Wonder what happened to the fence?

If you got a good hot fence charger or one that is already messed up and not so hot and power for it hook it up to one or more wires alternately. Yeah leave them stapled on post but don't ground charger and let them ground it when they grab it lol.

If the stand is on your property.. or property you are in charge of, I'd remove the stand and store it someplace secure.

in it's place i'd tack up a sign that said that to get your stand back contact the local police department. When / if they do, the local pd will be contacting you. Perhaps while you give them the stand back, they can also 'shake' some sense into the tresspasser.

First let me say I was born and raised in a hunting family and community and I completely understand your frustration.

I removed some trespassers from my property in 1999 that arrived on my land by boat. The following year I patrolled the property all day on the opening two days. On the third day I took a brief scan of the back 70 acres and decided it was safe to go to work. I got a call at 5:00 from my wife informing me that one of my animals was shot. I found evidence that the individual shot 3 times with a 270 rifle. The animal was within 300 feet of my home and the shooter was pointing right at the house when he took his shot. I called the state police and EnCon. Neither showed any interest in investigating the incident despite all of the laws that were broken. I asked if it would have been different if this happened in their back yard and if they wanted me to handle the situation my way. No response. So I have been forced to take matters into my own hands.

I have collected stands, camping equipment and tore down numerous blinds and shelters. I should not have to patrol my land and battle trespassers on a semi-annual bases. I bought have owned this land for years and pay the taxes on it every year. I also should not have to worry about retaliation against me that hurts my family or animals. What if one of these criminal takes a shot at my wife or daughter??

Since "law enforcement" doesn't want to handle the situation. Here is what I propose. I think that land owners should be issued tags for trespassers based on the level of damage caused by the nusance creatures. In your case, I think you should have been issued two bonus ear tags per field.

Boss man came in from rifle-deer-hunting tonight carrying a nice new shiny arrow with a razor sharp broadhead on it. Heard him telling son he found it laying in a hayfield. Said it looked like it had been droped there, as it wasn"t stuck in the ground. Was pretty glad he found it before he got it in a tractor tire! None of the guys with permission who hunt here were out with bow & arrow this year.

Got me a nice climbing stand this morning. The other permanent wood stand was torn apart, chopped with a axe and left about a hundred feet from their stand on their side of the property. About a hour ago, the owners of the climbing stand came by the house and asked about the stand. I said didn't know anything about it but someone shot a deer and drug it across my property and cut my fence. Sounds like it was the same guy that must have stolen your stand. I asked if he found out who it was to let me know. I need to bill somebody for fence repair and chasing cows.

What irks me are hunters who drive nails in my trees to put up deer stands. Ruins them for saw timber. Nails don't pull out of live trees either.

Have a neighbor who one spring day found a new stand on his place. Was going to tear it down, then thought about it, and waited untill the after noon before the season started to tear it down.

Some hunters are unbelievable. I have a neighbor who refuses to ask permission to hunt. He has put up tree stands that he leaves for permenant, used a chain saw to cut shooting lanes and he and family ride ATVs all year around. I have tried to be tolerant but finally told him to stay off. If he would ask I would let him hunt.
My boss bought a small overgrown farm a few years ago and manages it for deer hunting. His neighbor asked for pemission to hunt to which boss politely said "no" . Neighbor said " What do you mean no"? Boss says "uh I mean no don't hunt". Neighbor says "where am I gonna hunt?"
Boss says " I don't know, I bought this place to have a place to hunt. If you wanted to hunt here why didn't you buy it, it was for sale for quite a while?"
Neighbor snorts "Because they had it way over priced".

Might need to go cut the chain off of the deer stand, so you can repair your fence. Enough said. Gene

I fight fire with fire, it is the only way. I go out and find their vehicles parked on the road and take the needle valves out of their tires. After that they don't come back.
